Bookmarks for the Bookworms!

Finally, some new products on my Etsy store!

To start a reading year in 2014 as part of my new year resolution, I decided to craft some pretty bookmarks with Swarovski crystal, pearls, and silver flower pendants! And since I made quite a lot, why not share the joy with the Etsy community to have it listed on the store? These bookmarks are so dainty, I would love to have them for myself. I would highly recommend this to be given as gifts to your book-loving close ones, or you can gift this to yourself!

So what are you waiting for? Go ahead to my Etsy shop and get them ;).

My Second Sale!

My friend purchased a 3D "Allah" calligraphy art for her friend who will be leaving Indonesia soon. I custom made the 20x20cm list, as she wasn't able to get an IKEA RIBBA shadow box frame. I haven't made new ones recently (and been thinking to make a bundle of "Allah" and "Muhammad" calligraphy). But when I do, I will definitely post it here and also on my Facebook page!

If you have any questions about my listing, please feel free to send me a message and I will try to help as much as I can to cater your needs :).

My friend sent me the picture of the result after she put everything together.

The product listed in my Etsy store.

Review From My Very First Customer

My first-ever customer bought an Arabic calligraphy special occasions card in premium gold ink and jewels and reals embellishment. She gave me a five star rating as well!

Thank you! Thank you!

Which of His Favour Would You Deny?

Today is the second day of 2014! Have you reflected on your 2013? I'm pretty sure there are much up and downs during that year. But the most important of all is to always be grateful for everything you have in life because you may not know that what you thought it's bad, it is actually good for you.

For today, I'd like to share a new experiment in my new little work room!

Mother's Day

My Facebook newsfeed is flooded with Mother's Day greetings and everyone's pictures with their mum. So, while I'm still in the mood of drawing, I thought I should jump in and give my own tribute for Mother's Day ;).

This calligraphy is from surah Al Israa ayah 24, which means:
And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small."
I'm not really sure what shape I was aiming to develop, but it somehow looked like a tree or tear drop shape. I made this calligraphy in a short time~ around 4-5 hours (with distractions, of course), considering the length of it.

Anyhow, I would love to share a story for Mother's Day, but seems like I won't be able to do it now (it's 11.48 pm already!). Will definitely do one tomorrow though, because my love-and-hate relationship with mum is kinda a special one and I would love to just celebrate it :).

Ar Rahmaan: 13

Been thinking that I haven't done a single ayah from the Quran for quite some time. So, here's my recent attempt of writing a Quran verse. It's from my favourite surah, which is Ar Rahmaan.
Which of the favours of your Lord would you deny?

Do you have any other ideas which ayah should I do next? Share your thoughts in the comment box!

Practicing Again

This is the first finished calligraphy that I made after starting a full time job. It was a great practice! I haven't my hands making calligraphy in two months and it's already been awkward :/. Still undecided how I would want this to be like for the final result. I have plenty of cardstocks I need to use up, so I may make a cut out or a painting :).

Say A Little Thank-you

Finally I'm able to find time just to sit down and brainstorm on new designs! I'm really grateful for this, because since I have a part-time job - but full time activities (going to my weekly lectures on Mondays and Saturdays and fulfilling my duty as a housewife) - it's just impossible to find time for making calligraphy.

Making calligraphy is not as easy as it looks (at least for me). I would need to dedicate a time with no distractions just to sit down, brainstorm, and start doodling. Alhamdulillah my husband's been very supportive with this (he just washed the dishes without me asking him! :)); so, thanks honey!

Good news! Creativvita is about to come up with a new product which is a set of thank-you cards. It's still in the design phase, as I have just finished one design and would like to come up with at least 5 colour variants (still undecided with the colour palettes!). Looking forward to getting this done soon and have it up on my Etsy webstore ;).

Mini Islamic Months Birthday Card

Yesterday I was working on a new set of calligraphy, which is the Islamic months and this coming Saturday me & hubby are planning to come to a friend's daughter's birthday party. So, I thought I could use the new set of calligraphy to make a cute card to complement the boring kraft gift bag. I highlighted the month of her birthday of this year in Hijri calendar (and actually still the same with her birth month last year), which is Dzulhijjah. And on the back of it I added some personalised message (handwritten). The design is printed on a half 5x7 white cardstock paper.

If you are interested in this design, please let me know! It's absolutely customisable (you get to choose which month to highlight and the highlight colour that you want). Convo me in my shop at www.etsy.com/shop/Creativvita.
